Accountants report SMEs using Invoice Factoring

A third of the accountants surveyed in the UK announced that in the last three years SMEs have had trouble growing their businesses due to cash flow issues. They also stated that these same businesses are turning towards alternative products such as exporting and invoice discounting. The SMEs are looking to grow their businesses with exporting because it seems the only way to gain business. Other countries have had trouble too, but there are still some eager to buy products which has helped to a degree. For all other problems like cash flow short term loans with a 90 per cent pay out on the invoices has been important.

It seems to be a bit of push and pull when it comes to the ability for a business to succeed. Some of the companies have been having trouble with environmental changes, as well as increased petrol costs. Over half of the clients with accountants have stated they need overseas opportunities to continue on rather than remaining stagnant in growth at home. At the same time 64 per cent of the businesses cited the weak pound as the reason they have gone overseas to gain more funds.

Invoice factoring provides help with cash flow that some companies cannot find by branching out overseas. Some companies are too small or just unable to provide products overseas. For these companies who are suffering from lack of sales, factoring has been a saving grace of sorts. Invoices that are unpaid means that money is not coming through like it should. Companies with small savings need a cash flow a lot quicker than others. Large corporations tend to hold onto money for 90 days where they make money off the interest. This delay can cause a small company to struggle.

Factoring pays the invoice up to 90 per cent. The company giving this financial aid takes a service fee and interest which is why it is not 100 per cent paid. The company then seeks to collect funds from the clients in order to get the money back for the loan they made. Discounting is different in that the ledger stays with the originating company, but the business still has cash flow to use in order to keep the company going. In this way clients are not made aware of the business’ struggles, but the business has the cash flow they need until payment is made.

What are short term loans and how do they work?

Emergency situations may arise at any time and you may not be able to squeeze out money from your budget to manage the situation. In that case you may have to take out loans for meeting the emergency financial situation as you can’t wait for your next payday. Short term loans are basically payday loans that come with a repayment period of 2 weeks to a month.

How short term loans work
Short term loans are available without credit checks and are unsecured loans. As the short term loan lenders do not check your credit before lending you the money, they generally charge you high interest rate. You are supposed to pay back the loan amount within the next payday. Generally, many lenders require you to give your account details to the lender so that they can withdraw the money after your payday. Thus, it is quite dangerous to get a short term loan. You will have to manage to pay off the borrowed amount within the stipulated time or your bank accounts can get garnished. Also, remember to not give out your account details to a short term lender. Before taking out a short term loan, you should also check out the state laws. Some states have put a ban on short term or payday lending.

Mistakes you should avoid
The interest rates on payday loans are quite high so try to repay on time. Otherwise, the interest may accumulate into large amount within few months. Thus, before taking out pay day loans assess your financial situation and make sure to repay the loan with your next paycheck.

Many of the social lending websites offer short term loans. Generally, the interest rate doesn’t exceed 10%. However, you should make sure to repay the loan on time. Otherwise, you’ll have to pay late charges, thereby impacting your credit rating negatively.

You may also take out a cash advance on your credit card. However, you should know that a credit card company doesn’t allow grace periods for such cash advances. Thus, the interest starts piling up if you fail to pay the borrowed amount. Thus, you should try your best to pay off the amount within stipulated time.

Make money as an affiliate

I am well aware that the abundance of information on the internet is a major problem, especially for internet marketing beginners and I fear that I also occasionally contribute to it. Let me try to bring some order to the chaos.

I believe there are generally two ways to make money online.
> With your own product
> As an affiliate partner

Especially for beginners, I recommend starting with affiliate marketing. Creating your own product requires some knowledge, not only in the niche that you decide on, but also how to create a product, how to write good advertising copy, marketing and design. Most beginners will not be good at all these things when they start out. Of course, you can outsource a lot of the work to professionals, but that costs money and you’re looking to make money, not spend it.

I’m not saying that affiliate marketing is only for beginners, many experienced people are making a fantastic amount of money. As an affiliate you get a link from a seller. You earn money for every visitor who comes through this link to the website of the seller and performs a specific action.

The most common payment methods are:
> Cost per sale (CPS) = commission for items sold.
> Cost per action (CPA) = commission for action taken, such as filling out a form.
> Cost per click (CPC) = commission for a mouse click.
> Cost per impression (CPM) = commission for a certain number of visitors.

According to Wikipedia these days use 80% of all affiliate programs use CPS as a payment method and 19% use CPA.

Large companies often have their own affiliate program. The link to it is usually located in the very bottom of their website. An alternative to your own affiliate program is affiliate networks. Affiliate networks have access to many different products to promote.

Here are some known affiliate networks:
> Clickbank.com (digital products)
> Paydotcom.com
> CommisionJunction.com
> Share-a-Sale.com
> Amazon.com

Digital products like ebooks, software or video courses on any subject at Affiliate marketers are very popular. Since Digital products do have a delivery cost associated to them, the commission is often 50-75% of the sales price.

This means you can easily earn between $10 and several $100 per sale. For physical products, the affiliate of Amazon 6-7% of the expected sale price, at Commission Junction sometimes 10-20% or a fixed price. It depends on the vendor.

Many affiliate networks review your site before they accept you. Before signing up, you should create a few informative articles so that your side will make a professional impression.

And if you do get rejected, do not take it personally. This has also happened to me. I have pretty good experience with Commission Junction, Amazon and Clickbank.

The principle is very simple. You compare different products in a category together, or write informative reports on specific products. With your affiliate link, readers can then go to the product page.

As always, it depends on good content on your site as much of your traffic comes from search engines like google and google does not like sites with no information, but just a bunch of affiliate links. With good content, you offer your visitors useful information and Google will reward you by moving you up the rankings.
