After you have all of these things, you need to decide if you want to develop the app, or if you want a company to make it for you. A pro of developing the app yourself, is that you can create it exactly to your liking. A con is obviously that it will take a while to learn Objective C and Cocoa. An advantage of using a development company is that it will be done professionally and within a reasonable amount of time. A disadvantage of using a company is the price, which can be in the thousands of dollars. Thinking of an App Thinking of an idea for an app is the most crucial and most difficult phase of app making. I advise you take a week or so to jot down ideas. Then, pick the one you like best, and the one you think will make the most money. This will decide if your apps a success or not. (No Pressure!) Qualities of a Good App A good app is one that is both creative and addicting. Something like Doodle Jump, Field runners, or Fruit Ninja fit these characteristics perfectly. Design is another very important feature of any Iphone app. No one wants to look at a poorly designed app. Finally, we have bugs, or problems with the app. You can test this by sending the app to your friends so they can tell you about any problems they ran into while using your app. Fix them because people will hate an app that crashes at random. Getting the App Approved and Marketing I’ve heard before that getting the app approved isn’t that difficult. All it has to be is something innovative, and original. If your app has these two things, it most likely will be accepted. But, just because your app got accepted doesn’t mean that its going to make any money. You can do many things to promote your Iphone app. You could make a YouTube video about it, tell all your friends to purchase it, make a post about it on your blog, etc.. What you’re really trying to accomplish with all this, is to make it go viral. I believe going viral means that your app makes it into the top 50 (Which is very, very, very hard to do), but still possible. If it goes big, you can expect large amounts of money coming from Apple! Conclusion Creating Iphone apps is probably not for everybody. I believe it takes both a creative and determined person to finish the whole process and actually get an app onto the app store.
